Location: Southeastern United States
Description: Hurricane Irma, the strongest hurricane ever recorded outside the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, wreaked havoc across nine US states. Over 9 million people lost power on the mainland. Harlan Electric line workers from the Methuen, MA, Harrisburg, PA and Syracuse, NY district offices rode out the storm in Macon, GA and went to work right after the winds died down. Crews picked up and re-energized primary wire, replaced transformers, replaced house services, replaced cutouts and fuses to restore power. There were 15,974 man-hours worked with no accidents or injuries.
